Matt is originally from Greenville, KY and is the former pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Central City, KY. During his two years as pastor of Temple Baptist, God greatly blessed as they saw theattendance grow from 40 in Sunday School to 90-100 and well over 100 in the main service.
During this time the church grew not only numerically, but also financially, in giving to the Cooperative Program, local Association. But the greatest growth that was seen was the spiritual growth of the people. During his pastorate the church baptized more people in two years than the church had previously baptized in five years combined.
Currently, Matt is a full time vocational evangelist who travels extensively across America, preaching in all types of churches(i.e. big & small, new & old, wealthy & poor, traditional & contemporary) in Harvest Days, Revivals, Men’s/Marriage & Family Conferences and Bible Conferences. Matt has also written a men’s Bible Study and has taught it at the church he attends entitled “The Man of Integrity” and is in the process of offering the study as a weekend men’s conference to churches.
He is an active member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and is even recommended by people like his pastor, Jonathan Falwell, the late Dr. Jerry Falwell, Dr. Bob Pittman (Pastor of Kirby Woods Baptist Church in Memphis, TN), and Evangelist Randy Hogue to name a few. Matt and his wife Nikki, along with their daughter Lexi (born May 6, 2003) reside in Lynchburg, VA.
Matt is normally on the road 28-32 weeks per year preaching, teaching and sharing from the Word of God the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Matt has a passion and feels it is his calling of God to: (1) encourage pastor’s and their families (Matt the son of a pastor, Nikki is the daughter of a pastor, and Matt has pastored. So, Matt knows the trials and heartache that a minister and his family face); (2) evangelize the lost (Matt clearly wants to present the Gospel to those he comes in contact with so they too may know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior through a radical encounter with the crucified and risen Savior of the World, Jesus Christ); and (3) to confront the cold, call used and carnal Christendom within the walls of our churches (Matt is passionate about the Word of God and his personal relationship with Jesus.
I guess you could say Matt is “ON FIRE for Jesus” and wants other Christians to be as well. Rather than being bogged down in traditionalism and legalism, Matt’s desire is for all to seerather what has been done” by Jesus).
